The Light Between Moments
The Light Between Moments
oil on canvas, 12" x12"
What is it about a sunset?
It is a daily occurrence, a matter of minutes, really. Yet, while the brilliance of the day recedes, the world undergoes a profound stillness. As the sun slips lower, flooding the sky with oranges, pinks, and peaches, the frantic rush of the day dissolves. In this silvery transition, time doesn’t just pass; it stretches.
As I painted The Light between Moments, I found myself chasing that same fleeting grace. I watched as the afternoon light began to beguile the objects in my studio, rippling across ceramic and glancing through glass. Shadows didn't just fall; they deepened with intention. Highlights didn't just sit; they flickered like a memory.
Suddenly, the same ephemeral beauty of a sunset resided where, moments ago, only a simple stack of dishes lay. It is a reminder that the poetic isn’t found elsewhere—it is waiting for us at the table, anchored in the objects we touch every day.
